Applications Open: Foundations of International Relations Success and Training (FIRST) Workshop

In partnership with Bridging the Gap, the Duke Program in American Grand Strategy and the Triangle Institute for Security Studies will be hosting a Foundations of International Relations Success and Training (FIRST) Workshop on Saturday, October 4.

The workshop will last from approximately 8:30a.m. to 5p.m. The workshop is open to undergraduate students at any of the schools in the TISS consortium, though preference will be given to current sophomores and juniors.

The field of International Relations (IR) features a range of careers in government, academia, and the private sector, requiring IR practitioners to have a diverse set of skills and backgrounds. This Bridging the Gap FIRST workshop will engage students in conversations around solving core international relations challenges and explore professional development topics.

During the workshop, students will:

  • Participate in scenario-based exercises that explore the evolving geopolitical environment
  • Meet with practitioners and scholars to discuss policy issues and career opportunities
  • Discuss and workshop strategies to navigate and succeed in the professional world of International Relations

Applications are due on September 14 at 8:00pm.
