Duke students are invited to enter an essay contest in honor of the 25th anniversary of 9/11. The essay should address the question: “How did 9/11 affect America?” Essays should be no more than 1750 words. All Duke students are welcome to participate.
Winners will receive a $250 award. Winners will also be invited to participate in a panel discussion at Duke prior to the 9/11 anniversary.
Submissions are due on Sunday, August 16 at 11:59pm. Entries should be submitted by downloading a PDF of the essay to this Box folder.
Essays should include citations to referenced sources. Students may use any standard citation style. See: Citation Styles Guide.
Students may use AI tools to research or develop ideas for the essay. However, students may not use any text generated by an AI tool in their essay. AI tools may be used to proofread the final submission for diction, grammar, spelling, and punctuation issues.
